July 14, 2025: Gastonia. Today a group of impacted residents and moral leaders stood outside the Gaston County Courthouse to call out Rep. Tim Moore for his vote on the Budget Reconciliation Bill, which will leave hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians without access to SNAP and Medicaid, while providing tax cuts to the extremely wealthy and funneling millions of dollars toward increased ICE abductions.

Speakers stood behind a casket to symbolize the deaths that will occur due to these cuts and attacks. They included local impacted residents such as Mandy Armstrong, Julie Kaiser, Jessica Santiago, Barbara Randolph (North Mecklenburg Immigration Advocacy), Tony Curtis, Sangria Noble of the NC Poor People’s Campaign and Repairers of the Breach, and Leslie Boyd of the Western NC Poor People’s Campaign. They also included faith leaders Rev. Darryl Dayson of South Tryon Community United Methodist Church (UMC); Rev. Sally Queen, District Superintendent of Catawba Valley District of the UMC; Imam Fleming El-Amin of the Piedmont Triad NC Poor People’s Campaign; Rev. Glencie Rhedrick of First Baptist Church West in Charlotte; Rev. Kim Ingram of First UMC Belmont; and Rev. Mark Curtis of Inclusion Community in Cornelius.

Following the program, a delegation walked to Rep. Tim Moore’s office to deliver reports detailing the estimated numbers of North Carolinians who will lose access to life-saving healthcare and food, including up to 33,000 to lose Medicaid and 22,000 to lose SNAP in Rep. Moore’s district alone.

In this folder you can see photos and videos of the event, along with two reports we delivered to Rep. Moore’s office.
